Scarlett Johansson
I typically don't cover Broadway but, if the names are strong enough, I'll tap into the medium on the rare occasion. A perfect example would be when I hear that both Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson will be toplining a Broadway revival.
Scarlett Johansson, Liev Schreiber for A View From the Bridge
It looks like Schreiber and Johansson joined A View From the Bridge just in time, as it is expected to open at Cort Theater later this season. Johansson, who only recently wrapped Iron Man 2, will be making her Rialto debut in the role. Schreiber has a bit more experience, having last been on Broadway in the 2007 revival of Talk Radio. The actor also won a Tony for his part in Glengarry Geln Ross back in 2005.
A View From the Bridge centers on a Brooklyn longshoreman (Schreiber) who becomes romantically obsessed with his orphaned niece (Johansson). View bowed as a one-act verse play in 1955 before it was revised into a two-act prose drama, last seen on the Main Stem in a 1997 revival that starred Anthony LaPaglia.
View is only the recent Broadway production toting an all-star cast. A Steady Rain features both Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman -- I heard this was awesome -- while Hamlet currently stars Jude Law.
