Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson is really working on staying in front of the camera. Popping into theaters this month, the actor has a couple other gigs coming our way in the next few years and is hoping to add yet another with Universal Pictures' Cold Warrior. Well, at least Universal is hoping that Gibson is hoping to add another.
Mel Gibson Negotiating Cold Warrior
The cool thing about Cold Warrior is that it would reunite Mel Gibson with Lethal Weapon scribe Shane Black, who will be behind the camera for this one. The only catch is that Cold Warrior is not trying to be a buddy-cop comedy.
Based on a script by Chuck Mondry, Cold Warrior centers on a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a younger agent from the new school to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.
Besides being a nice reunion, Cold Warrior also marks Gibson's return to a studio-backed project. After his anti-Semitic remarks back in 2006, the majors have been hesitant about giving him a title role. Edge of Darkness should make for a good test.
